Before you move in, landlord is expected to keep their property clean, safe and livable.
The landlord is in charge of:
- Keep safe basic structural elements of the building;
- Supply of cold and hot water,
- Safe and functional electrical, plumbing, sanitary, heating, and ventilating installations;
- Free of plagues;
- Clean and accessible common areas;
- No leaks;
- Basic security elements;
- Paint and waterproof.
Also, as a tenant, you are obligated to:
- Keep the property as clean and safe as possible;
- dispose garbage, rubbish, and other waste in a clean and safe manner;
- maintain plumbing fixtures as clean as their condition permits;
- Fix things you or your guests break or damage;
- Notify the landlord promptly of defective or dangerous conditions on the property.
Before moving out, here are some suggestions before returning the property:
- Sweep / vacuum;
- Remove surface dirt;
- Replace all burned-out lights;
- Cut the grass and remove any weeds;
- Do not leave any garbage or rubbish;
- Pay special attention to cleaning kitchen appliances and bathrooms
Remember, to expedite the return of your safe deposit, tenants are expected to return the rental property clean and in good condition.
