Puebla and Cholula
March 1 - April 10
You may have heard that Puebla´s gastronomy is well known internationally, you may have even had the opportunity to taste its mole or in season, the typical Chiles in Nogada, but what not everyone knows is that the state capital is having a big boom these days.
It has impressive sites like the International Museum of Baroque, inaugurated two years ago. Since you arrive the architectural work of the building captivates you, and as soon as you enter you can request a guided tour or do it independently. They are focused on Churrigueresque Art, but also have temporary exhibits and everything is done to please visitors, making it a true delight to spend hours in this enclosure.
If you happen to be in the Historical Center and want to visit a place within a colonial building, Amparo Museum is the option, because you will be able to admire more than 1.700 pieces of pre-Hispanic Art, they also have a collection of the 19th century that will make you feel transported to another era. Go up to the terrace and enjoy the beautiful view.
There is the possibility to get to Cholula from Puebla on the new eco-train in just 40 minutes. You will be marveled at the largest pyramid hidden under a mountain. The areas that can be seen are the Site Museum with permanent exhibitions, there is a tunnel of approximately 280 meters with artificial lighting and the open part where the ceremonial patios are located. If you prefer you can have bilingual guides, which will allow you to appreciate this beautiful place even better.
You can also enter the large number of churches that this Magic Town owns, which -according to the locals- is one for each day of the year.
Puebla is definitely worth visiting and you will do it several occasions for sure because it has a great variety of tourist sites and delicious treats.
